Air Ducts Questions & Answers

When was the last time your air ducts got cleaned?

If you don’t know — keep reading!! Floors To Ceiling recommend that your home or office air ducts be cleaned every 2 to 5 years, depending on the condition of your air ducts. Many people have allergic reactions to the dirt, debris, dust, and bacteria that accumulates over the years in air ducts.

Our air duct cleaning service will clear your ducts of these contaminants and also improve the efficiency of your air conditioner and furnace by improving air flow. Additionally, removing the dust and dirt particles that are blowing from you air ducts will reduce the time you spend dusting your home!

Q. What is an air duct?
A. An air duct is a sealed tunnel that leads air from the heating and cooling unit into a room.

Q. How does an air duct get dirty?
A. As the air flows through the duct and outside the vent, dust is trapped and attaches itself to the duct forming a sticky residue. This sticky dirt is created by A/C moisture. Dry particles also circulate and will collect in the ductwork, thus forming “dust bunnies”. Eventually this accumulated filth will turn to mud or mildew.

Q. Could my air ducts be dirty even if the vent covers look clean?
A. Yes. Though the vent cover is clean, the air duct itself could be dirty. Floors To Ceiling inspects your ductwork with a video camera to detect dirt and other debris buildup in your air ducts.

Q. What else can I do to keep my home free of dust and debris?
A. Floors To Ceiling recommend replacing your air filters regularly in addition to vacuuming your carpet on a regular basis. We also recommend combining air duct cleaning with a thorough, hot water extraction carpet cleaning. This is an excellent way to rid your home of dust mites, animal dander, fungi, and pollen which all contribute to asthma and allergy conditions.

Q. Can cleaning my air ducts cure my child’s allergies?
A. Cleaning air ducts has provided some people allergy relief because it eliminates allergens and contaminants which contribute to an unhealthy indoor air environment. However, there is no conclusive proof that air duct cleaning cures sicknesses or allergies. Be wary of companies that make outrageous promises to cure allergies, illnesses, or claim their service is “doctor approved.”

Q. How long is the air duct cleaning process and how much does it cost?
A. Our air duct cleaning process takes anywhere from 3-5 hours. We do a thorough job and make sure everything is cleaned and completely put back together before we leave. Unlike some companies that advertise a “teaser” price just to get in the door, Floors To Ceiling pricing is all-inclusive and we don’t increase the price once we start the work. We deliver the best service at a reasonable rate. Our customers expect the best air duct cleaning service and that’s what they get. Call, email, or submit a quote request today!
